Chapter 1, The Ancestral Jade Pendant

Dark Small Medium Large Original Scroll to Bottom

Taking a deep breath, a faint fragrance flowed into his chest through his nose, instantly invigorating every cell in his body. That refreshing scent made Ji Feng feel revitalized, and in an instant, he no longer felt the usual hangover fatigue.

So sweet

A tall octagonal tower stands several dozen meters away, reaching a height of eight or nine stories. Various uniquely shaped wind chimes hang from it, gently swaying in the breeze and occasionally producing faint, barely audible sounds.

After taking a few more sips of the sweet lake water, Ji Feng discovered the source of the issue; small bubbles occasionally emerged from the bottom of the lake, as if numerous springs were overflowing with spring water. No wonder it was so sweet

He shook his head and tossed the question aside. Whatever, it has nothing to do with him anyway

Taking another deep breath of fresh air, Jifeng walked towards the two crimson doors. First, he wanted to see if anyone was around, and at the very least, he needed to understand where he was and how he could return. Although this place was indeed pleasant, and staying here was not out of the question, it was still not his home.

Opening his eyes, he was instantly stunned by the scene before him, his mouth agape in astonishment as he stared blankly at everything in front of him

After enjoying the fresh air at https://www.hetushu.com for a while, Ji Feng noticed the problem: the entire place was too quiet. Aside from the occasional faint sound of wind chimes, there was not a single other sound, as if this were a world frozen in time

How did I end up here? Who captured me? Why has no one come to ask me a single question until now? Or is it that after being kidnapped, I realized I had no value and was casually thrown into this desolate place without a single feather?

On the right side is a neatly arranged ancient courtyard, with a crimson gate tightly closed. In front of the gate stand two mythical beasts, each towering at about 1.5 meters. The entire courtyard spans nearly 100 acres at a glance, but the situation inside is completely obscured by the tall courtyard walls, leading Ji Feng to question whether he has somehow traveled back to ancient times.

Within the entire world that comes into view, distinct functional areas are clearly delineated, as if there were someone who deliberately arranged it this way

People say that even drinking cold water can get food stuck in your teeth, and Ji Feng is currently experiencing this feeling.

To the left of the lake, directly in front of the courtyard, lies a vast expanse of land, covering an area of over one hundred acres. In the distance, there is an endless stretch of grassland, with lush green grass reaching up to half a person's height, occasionally interrupted by a tall tree standing over ten meters high.

Ji Feng turned around and was once again captivated by the scenery before him. In front of him lay a lake covering an area of about several dozen acres, with clear water gently rippling. At a glance, one could see the bottom of the lake, yet after looking for a long time, Ji Feng did not see a single fish jump out, leaving him slightly disappointed

Having just been dumped by his girlfriend during the day, Ji Feng got himself drunk that night. On his way home, he unexpectedly encountered a robbery. Although he was still relatively strong, facing two even stronger knife-wielding robbers, and with his mind somewhat clouded, Ji Feng could only endure a beating. Especially as he watched the two men take the little money he had, they even complained it was too little, and proceeded to punch and kick him. The pain in Ji Feng's stomach was excruciating, causing him to bleed from his mouth and nose before they finally left.

Subsequently, the jade pendant fell back onto Ji Feng's chest, and at the moment it touched Ji Feng's skin, a faint blue light blossomed and entered his body. There, on Ji Feng's chest, a clear pattern of the jade pendant faintly appeared, only to gradually vanish moments later

Ji Feng quickly calmed the tension and fear in his heart, walked to the lakeside to wash his hands, and after changing to a different spot, cupped his hands to drink a handful of lake water.

Ji Feng was uncertain whether he still had any relatives. Ever since his parents' plane crash a few years ago, all the relatives had attempted to claim the assets left by his parents, forcing Ji Feng to avoid contact with them. Initially, Ji Feng would actively visit his grandfather's and maternal grandfather's relatives to pay New Year greetings, but those individuals always seemed to have ulterior motives, prompting Ji Feng to evade them whenever possible. Aside from the New Year, he generally felt too lazy to face them.

Ji Feng felt a wave of thirst and groggily got up. Habitually, he went to find the water dispenser to get a cup of water. Just as he stood up from the sofa and lifted his leg, he bumped into something that resembled a pillar with a loud bang, instantly bringing some clarity to his consciousness

In this completely unfamiliar place, Ji Feng could not help but feel a sense of unease, looking around for a long time yet still finding no trace of humanity.

No... don't... stop...

After dragging his pained and exhausted body for more than twenty minutes, he returned to his home on the third floor not far away. He casually closed the door and collapsed onto the sofa. The pain in his body, combined with the anguish in his heart, made him unwilling to rise again. With a bitter smile and traces of blood lingering at the corners of his mouth, he gradually closed his eyes.

Pinched herself hard

In the pitch-black room, the jade pendant suddenly emitted a faint and gentle glow, as if it had gained a soul and began to float in the air.

On the left side lies a dense forest, filled with countless towering trees. All that meets the eye are massive trunks that require several people to encircle, while many low shrubs and various unknown plants grow beneath. A small path leads directly into the depths of the woods

A gentle light enveloped Ji Feng's entire body, and the bruises he sustained from the beating that night were healing at a visibly rapid pace, returning to their original state in just a moment.

The solitary tree that Jifeng just collided with is located a little further from the edge of the forest. It has a substantial trunk and, when looking up, it pierces the clouds, making it impossible to discern just how tall it truly is

Over time, Ji Feng had come to regard himself as an orphan. Fortunately, the inheritance left by his parents was sufficient for his needs. He managed to complete his university education and found a job. Although the income was not particularly high, it was enough to support himself. Moreover, he did not need to buy a house, nor did he have to repay a mortgage, so Ji Feng's life was quite comfortable.

The fresh air, the vast grasslands, the sprawling forests, the clear lakes, the vintage courtyards—everything, all of it, is so novel to Qifeng, who has lived in the city since middle school and occasionally consumed gutter oil while breathing in severely polluted air. It is entirely incomparable to all the landscapes he has seen in the past.

However, Ji Feng did not notice that after he lay down, the ancestral jade pendant he had been holding around his neck slipped out, and a few drops of blood from his nose coincidentally dripped onto the jade pendant

Ji Feng was somewhat confused again. Looking at the lake, it was almost full to the banks, yet to the eye, there was not a single drop of water overflowing from the lake. This can only be described as a miracle

Hiss, it really hurts, damn it, so what I saw was real? But where exactly is this? What use is it to kidnap me? I'm not even a wealthy person. Just thinking about money makes Ji Feng feel a bit pained that the few hundred yuan in his wallet was stolen yesterday

The entire process lasted for more than ten minutes; apart from the red string around Ji Feng's neck, which no longer had the jade pendant, everything else seemed to go unnoticed.

Suddenly, a refreshing and invigorating sensation permeated the chest, flowing through the limbs and meridians, as if every pore in the body had opened up, allowing for a deep and satisfying breath, resulting in an unprecedented feeling of comfort.

Let it be, just accept what comes. After all, no one cared about me in the original place, not even my only girlfriend who ran off with a wealthy man. I'm thirsty, so I'll have a drink of water first.
